344-Musicians-1

The 344 Musician’s Flight of the Australian Air Force Cadet Band will perform at Windsor Function Centre tomorrow night, October 1.

Lovers of music in all its forms are in for a real treat at the Windsor Function Centre tomorrow night with a unique performance by 344 Musician’s Flight of the Australian Air Force Cadet Band.

Flight Lieutenant (AAFC), Ben Simon said the show, titled Kaleidoscope, was a spectrum of different types and styles of music from swing and classical through to symphonic and military marches.

“It’s like when you look through a kaleidoscope and you see all the different colours,” Lieutenant Simon said.

“We’ve got lots of different genres and styles and a few guest soloists.”

Now, there are not 344 band members, that is a military number.

The Flight first commenced in 2015, but each time the band plays it is made up of different members from across NSW, Victoria and the ACT.

The only rule for participants is that they must be member of the Australian Air Force Cadets.

The current lineup has been rehearsing together since Saturday, September 24.

Prior to that, Lieutenant Simon said he hoped they’d been practising at home.

Several of the Army Cadets Band, Sydney, and six 7 Wing Airforce from Perth will join the band tomorrow night.

“We try to do a major concert every year, but with COVID our last one was in 2019 - One Night On Broadway,” Lieutenant Simon said. “We’re getting back to normal.”

As Flight commander, Lieutenant Simon said he wanted the cadets to look back on the experience and say, “Wow, we couldn’t have done that back home on our own.”

“We set the bar quite high and the cadets always rise to it,” he said. The show will commence at 7 pm tomorrow night, October 1.

Tickets cost $15 each or $10 for concession-card holders and students and can be purchased at the door or online at https://kaleidoscope.floktu.com/.
