ANZACS Honoured Across The Hawkesbury

lest-we-forget

The laying of wreaths on ANZAC Day is one of the most beautiful tributes used to remember those who fought and fight for us.

Hawkesbury residents came out in droves to pay their respects to our ANZACS on Tuesday, April 25.

There were solemn and moving dawn services, commemorative services and marches held right across the region.

ANZAC Day has been set aside for us to remember and pay tribute to the sacrifices our fighting men and women have made on our behalf and their service to our country.

There is still time to visit the Hawkesbury Library Service’s exhibition of postcards from WWI, courtesy of the Hawkesbury chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild NSW.

With love, from the front is a collection of embroidered postcards from World War I that provide a glimpse into what life was like for solders.

The Embroiderers’ Guild of NSW (Hawkesbury’s) Catherine Delaney has transcribed the handwritten postcards and researched many of the soldiers who sent them.

This free exhibition will end on Sunday, April 30.
