It was a landslide victory for Hawkesbury Valley in all division home games against Beecroft last Saturday.

This was round 9 of the suburban rugby union competition, third division. First division wiped the floor with a 57 to nil victory, after seconds won 15 to 5, and a 29 to 17 victory in thirds.

This round’s form is another example of Valley’s punishing team effort this year.

Ira Blake played his 100th match for Hawkesbury Valley, with experience from masters through to first grade.

Jordan Grant usually plays second division. He came on during third grade before playing the whole second division game. He followed up this strong performance by coming on as a reserve for firsts.

Valley Secretary Steve Harkins said it was a fun yet competitive day of footy.

“It was a clean sweep, which is always a good thing,” Harkins said.

The win sees first grade maintain their top spot of the competition ladder, with 35 points after round 9.

“All three sides are at the top of their ladders, looking good toward the tail end of the main season,” he said.

This weekend is another home game for all three divisions, against Briars, at McQuade Park.

It’s a top of the table clash for first division with the Briars chomping at their tails with 31 points.

Harkins said it was a “fairly close” game last time they met. “This will be a crucial clash,” he said.

“The lads don’t focus on the ladder though. They work on continuing to play good footy and putting their all in.”

Third grade kicks off at 11:50am, with seconds at 2pm and first grade at 3:15pm.

Hawkesbury Ag College have a home game against Beecroft in their round 10 matches at College Oval.
