Bilpin Cider Co Launches New Beverage

Tucked away in Bilpin is one of the biggest craft cider breweries in the country, and they have just introduced a delightful new beverage to their range - the first ever low-sugar non-alcoholic ginger beer.

Founder of Bilpin Cider Co, Sean Prendergast said he and his team had been looking around for new opportunities.

“We saw that a lot of the big boys were getting into the alcoholic ginger beer arena,” Mr Prendergast said.

“Most ginger beer is high in carbonated water, high in sugar and light in ginger flavour.

“It was clearly an opportunity for us.”

Brewed to taste like alcoholic ginger beer, Bilpin Cider crafted the first genuine non-alcoholic premium ginger beer offering a lovely, balanced style, with an added kick of ginger.

“It’s low in sugar and high in brewed ginger flavour,” Mr Prendergast said.

“It has 40 per cent less sugar than most popular brands.

“It’s nice to find a gap that nobody has filled.”

The non-alcoholic ginger beer is a healthier choice compared to its peers, with less sugar, no preservatives or artificial colouring, is gluten free and has zero alcohol content.

Bilpin Cider now has five non-alcoholic cider varieties and seven alcoholic offerings.

“Our new release is a strong, spicy, full-flavoured ginger-style drink, arguably packing more ginger and flavour than any other product in the non-alc market,” Mr Prendergast said.

Inspired by the rise of craft brands targeting the largely untapped alcoholic ginger beer genre, Bilpin Cider focused on delivering a robust, spicy and distinct root flavour.

The result is a fully-flavoured non-alcoholic ginger beer with all of the spice and zest and none of the alcohol.

The brand will initially be sold in NSW through hotels, bottle shops, liquor stores and non-alcoholic specialty stores as well as online through the Bilpin Cider Co online shop.

Aligned with Bilpin Cider’s non-alcoholic cider range with a white ‘X’ on the body label, indicating it is non-alcholic, the new beverage is priced at retail between $15 and $17 for a four-pack, reflecting the premium ingredients and craft production involved.

Bilpin Cider Co was established in 2011 with a single variety, Bilpin Original Cider.

It has steadily built up an award-winning range of drinks to meet customers’ changing trends, tastes and desires for new and healthy non-alcoholic varieties.

All of their products are created from freshly crushed fruit with no added sugar, syrups or artificial flavours.

“We’ve been very strong in the non-alcoholic cider arena for a number of years,” Mr Prendergast said.

Bilpin Cider Co also has the best and most popular non-alcoholic cider in the country, as voted by Australian Drinks Awards based on consumer research.

“This is a big thing for us,” Mr Prendergast said.
