Budget 2023 Delivers For Hawkesbury And Blue Mountains

NSW Government invests $40 million to help regional youth reach their full potential.

Federal Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman MP said the 2023 Budget delivered on promises that would benefit families and small businesses across the Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains.

Cheaper child care, cheaper medicines and a new Energy Price Relief Plan (EPRP) that will reduce the cost of living stress for more than five million households.

The EPRP will provide eligible locals and small businesses with with a rebate of up to $500 and $630 respectively, according to Ms Templeman.

“We are also making an historic investment to strengthen Medicare, tripling bulk billing incentives, which will benefit more than 63000 people in Macquarie,” Ms Templeman said.

“Incentives will cover many common GP consultations, including telehealth and videoconference - making care more affordable, for children, pensioners and other Commonwealth concession card holders.”

Ms Templeman also made mention of:

  • A 15 per cent pay increase for aged care workers;
  • A $40 per fortnight increase in payments such as JobSeeker,
  • Austudy and Youth Allowance;
  • An extra $92.10 per fortnight for people over 55 years of age; and
  • An additional $176.90 per fortnight for single parents until their youngest child turns 14.

Labor’s Treasurer, Dr Jim Chalmers, said the Budget was about delivering a stronger foundation for a better future.
