The Secret Garden offers something for everyone, from beautiful plants to purchase to projects and interest groups to get involved in.

Much more than just peaceful, rambling gardens with a vast selection of plants to purchase and resident goats, ducks, guinea pigs and chickens to coo over, The Secret Garden is a community hub at the University of Sydney in Richmond.

The Secret Garden is a not-for-profit community hub designed to provide a safe space that draws community groups, organisations and individuals from all walks of life and supports a range of programs for members from all groups within a community, including people with disabilities, aged residents and students of all ages.

People find that spending time at the garden enables them to flourish and grow while developing their own interest areas and generating opportunities for the community.

Many of the plants for sale at the garden have been propagated onsite by volunteers and program participants.

The sale of the plants helps finance the garden and community projects.

The Secret Garden offers a range of specialised engagement opportunities for the community in areas such as horticulture, permaculture, sustainability, animal husbandry and mud-brick making. One of their popular programs is the Friday morning croquet from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.

The croquet team is keen to have new people join and learn to play cross-country croquet.

Cross-country croquet is a bit special for those who like something a little different.

All you need is a pair of walking shoes and a hat and a willingness to have fun.

The Secret Garden also has a wonderful coffee shop for a delicious Devonshire Tea or homestyle-cooked lunch.

Entry to The Secret Garden Community Hub is off Londonderry Road.
