South Windsor’s Nina Matthews doesn’t feel she did anything extraordinary during the Hawkesbury floods, but others disagree.“I just helped clean up in South Windsor,” Ms Matthews said.

“There were people who had lost all of their belongings. “I put the call out to 10 of my customers to help out and they got in and helped with the clean up on Cox Street.”

Ms Matthews has been in Windsor for 14 months. She donates Up and Go to local school each week, promotes other businesses and had a hand in the community’s first-ever Clean Up Australia Day last month. Spend any time talking with her and you’ll discover that she acts as a conduit for fellow community members to help others in need. Customer and fellow community member Denise Davison said Ms Matthews doesn’t realise how much she does.

“I come in here every day,” Ms Davison said.

“Nina deserves a medal. I have anxiety and she introduces me to other people. “She’s doing so much.”

Cameron Bond said he hadn’t been to Nina’s Pre-loved Goods previously and was just dropping off donations.

“She’s really committed to this area,” Mr Bond said.

“It’s really kind of sweet.

“It’s wonderful to do what she does and then do that bit extra.”

Regular customer Melanie Waters from Richmond said when she first heard of Nina’s Pre-loved Goods, she thought it was a great shop.

“I’m always in here buying lots of odds and ends,” Ms Waters said. “Nina is just so good for the community.

“Any way she can help, she tries to.”

People can donate hamper items via Nina’s Pre-loved Goods, as well. Items collected are then passed on to the Windsor Community Kitchen for distribution to those in need. They are collecting food and toiletry items.

Pre-loved clothing is currently available at $5 per bag.
