Government assistance is available for flood victims

Federal government disaster recovery one off individual payments and loans area are available, as well as advice regarding insurance claims.

There are several government financial assistance programs to help flood-affected individuals and businesses:

Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) is an initiative to provide financial support and assistance to Australian residents in areas affected by the recent floods and storms.

Blacktown, Blue Mountains, The Hawkesbury, The Hills, Hornsby, Parramatta, and Penrith residents are eligible to a one-time payment of $1,000 for an adult, and $400 per child via services Australia until 24 September, 2021.

Disaster Recovery Allowance - Primary producers and sole traders may be eligible for a fortnightly income supplement if you have experienced a loss of income resulting from the floods.

Support and assistance is available to those who have experienced loss or damage or require assistance in cleaning and restoring essential public services and assets. There is financial assistance to eligible non-profit organisations.

Small businesses, primary producers and non-profit organisations may be entitled to concessional interest rate loans. Primary producers may receive freight subsidies for an increase in transportation times.

For locals currently in the process of searching for a job, the government has postponed the mutual obligation requirements to receive assistance until Tuesday April 6, 2021.

  • Updates on affected areas via NSW State Emergency Service (SES) - General information and inquiries customer service hotline: 1800 227 228.
  • Insurance policies and claim processes - A disaster hotline is now actively taking calls via The Insurance Council of Australia. For any questions regarding insurance policies or claim processes, call: 1800 734 621
  • Personal Hardship - Service NSW support is available: 13 77 88.
  • NSW Rural Assistance Authority - Concessional loans and grants are available. Call 1800 678 593 or visit raa.nsw.gov.au.
