Over 300 trees will be planted in public spaces, with the vision of a greener environment offering cleaner and healthier living.

They will be planted in Hobartville, Bligh Park, Church Street Reserve; as well as Governor Phillip Park and George Street in Windsor.

Hawkesbury MP Robyn Preston and Hawkesbury City Council secured $382,000 as part of the NSW Government Greening Our City program.

“Quality green and open public spaces are important to everyone,” Ms Preston said.

“This is an excellent initiative to boost the number of trees in Hawkesbury to make it an even more comfortable and vibrant place for the community to enjoy.”

Mayor Patrick Conolly welcomes the added benefit.

“It will make our parks more appealing, not only visually but as a place to cool down in the shade during hot weather,” Clr Conolly said.

NSW Premier Gladys Berijiklian aims to have one million trees planted in Greater Sydney by 2022.

“More trees means more shade, cooler suburbs, more oxygen and a better urban environment for communities to enjoy,” she said.
