Young Indy Aqualina’s skill at Futsal has seen her selected for the All-Australian Team to tour the UK in October.

McQuade Park, Windsor will be as blue as the eye can see on Sunday as the Fun Run fundraiser for Indy gets underway at 9 am.

Judith Aqualina said that her 10-year-old daughter Indy tried out for, and made the NSW Futsal team.

“She captained her team undefeated through the season and was voted Most Valuable Player (MVP),” Mrs Aqualina said.

Young Indy has also been selected for the All-Australian Team that will tour the UK and represent Australia in October.

They will visit Edinburgh, Scotland and Wales, but Indy needs $8000.

In true Hawkesbury spirit, Indy’s boxing gym, Boxfitt has got behind her with some sponsorship and has urged people to come out on Sunday for a fun run in the park to raise some money to help the young sportsperson make the tour.

That’s right, Futsal is not the only sport Indy excels at.

She also boxes at the local BoxFitt gym and will try out for the NSW Boxing team this weekend.

If successful, she will attend the Australian Institute of Sport camp.

A big Indy Aqualina fan, Mark Hardman from Boxnburn has been encouraging residents to get behind the youngster.

“Indy is not only representing Australia,” Mr Hardman said.

“She is representing the Hawkesbury.

“BoxFitt gym always backs a little Aussie battler - Indy Aqualina is definitely that.

“Hard work has paid off.

“To make it to UK will cost the Aqualina family close to $17,000.”

Mr Hardman said that every little bit of money raised would go a long way toward helping mum and daughter make it to the UK and help Indy get a little closer to her dream of one day becoming a professional soccer player.

Mrs Aqualina, who shuttles Indy to all of her sporting events, said that as she advanced in each of her sports there would be time clashes.

“Indy will need to make some choices in the future,” she said.

“For now, we’re managing, so I’ll right that wave as long as I can.”
