Hawkesbury City Mayor, Sarah McMahon.

Hawkesbury City Councillors have demonstrated that they are serious about representing the people of their community, including those living in outlying areas.

Last weekend, a group of Councillors, including the Mayor, took a bit of a road trip around St Albans, Lower Macdonald, Lower Portland and Colo to chat with the locals and hear their concerns.

Councillor Nathan Zamprogno makes a point of getting out to all parts of the Hawkesbury as often as he can and he was happy to be part of the 200km road trip last weekend.

“The Hawkesbury is a big place, and residents of more remote areas sometimes feel like they aren’t being heard,” Councillor Zamprogno said.

“We learned a lot, took many notes, and we will be returning to those communities regularly.”

Over the next few weeks, Councillors will conduct a series of visits across th LGA to listen to residents’ concerns and issues.

The aim of these visits, or Listening Posts, is to ensure that Counmcillors are as accessible as possible to residents of all areas of the Hawkesbury.

Upcoming Listening Posts include:

  • Bilplpin Markets from 9 am to 10 am on October 1;
  • Pitt Town shops from 9 am to 10 am on Saturday, October 8;
  • McLeod Park, South Windsor from 9 am to 10 am on Saturday, November 5;
  • Wilberforce shops from 9 am to 10 am on Saturday, November 19; and
  • Bligh Park shops from 9 am to 10 am on Saturday, November 26.

Mayor Sarah McMahon invited locals to come out and have a chat at the Listening Posts.

“We really enjoyed our time at Lower Macdonald, St Albans, Lower Portland and Colo Heights on the weekend, and we acknowledge that we have a lot of work to action from all of the feedback we received,” Mayor McMahon said.

The Mayor will attend every Listening Post, but not all other Councillors will attend every location.

More suburbs will be added to the Listening Posts in the New Year.
