How Is Your Mental Health?

Graham Lonnie Lonard, with his sidekick Gizmo, will share his lived experience of mental health at an event over the bridge at Macquarie Park, Windsor tomorrow, Saturday, May 28.

Have you ever felt depressed, worthless or tired of living?

They are just a few things that come under the umbrella of mental health, and more than ever that has become a major concern within our communities.

Graham Lonnie Lonard can remember vividly feeling worthless as a child; feeling dumb.

His whole life he struggled with those feelings and with resulting depression.

He tried to drown out those feelings with self-medication, but nothing he did made him feel any better until he met someone who helped him believe in himself.

“It’s a lived experience, we all need to talk about it,” Lonnie said. “I just start the conversation.”

Lonnie will be starting the conversation tomorrow at the Mental Health Awareness Day from 1pm to 5pm.

Along with the mental health awareness talk, you can do some jamming with the James Brothers at the walk-up open mic.

Pack a picnic lunch and bring your rug or picnic chairs and settle in for a great afternoon.
