Six months down the track, The Hawkesbury Community Support Hub has significantly expanded its support services to community members in need.

A leading community housing provider, Link Wentworth has officially opened a community support hub in the Hawkesbury region.

Located at the corner of Moses Street and Greenway Crescent in Windsor, the one-stop-shop has already helped countless individuals access a wide range of essential services that were previously dispersed from a number of different locations all from one convenient site.

Launched in May, the Hawkesbury Community Support Hub has provided this vital service to address a wide range of needs, from housing support to financial advice and disability assistance.

Since its inception, the Hawkesbury Community Support Hub has expanded its services significantly.

Starting with 12 services, it now offers 35 essential services, including addition support, housing support, domestic violence assistance, and more.

Link Wentworth’s dedicated team sits alongside individuals, advocating on their behalf and helping them access the services they need.

Link Wentworth’s Sector Capacity Specialist, Toni Joseph said Link Wentworth was committed to helping individuals who are experiencing homelessness or hardship.

“Our goal is to make support easily accessible,” Ms Joseph said.

“If you’re unsure where to start, please drop by for a hot drink and a chat.”

This November marks the six monthly session since the hub’s soft launch.

Over this period, it has evolved to include crucial support from Service NSW, Services Australia, Wesley MIssion, and the Salvation Army.

The hub plays a critical role in assisting individuals who require emergency relief to cover essential expenses, including rent payments and utilities.

The impact of the Hawkesbury Community Support Hub can be seen through real-life scenarios.

One such scenario involved helping a gentleman who had been sleeping rough since his arrival from Victoria.

He was assisted to obtain identification documents through Service NSW, with support from the Salvation Army, which enabled him to get work.

In another case, Service NSW and Link Wentworth worked together to obtain crucial documents for an individual from the Department of Home Affairs.

After a several-month process, the individual successfully received his paperwork and regular ID.

As a result, he applied for housing, starting working as a volunteer and has since enrolled in a digital literacy course with Link Wentworth.

As the holiday season approaches, the hub plans to spread joy with a Christmas-themed event in the first week of December.

The event will feature Santa, sponsored gifts, and a barbeque lunch to bring smiles to the community.

The hub has undergone significant expansion in its services over time. When it first opened, only two people took advantage of its offerings. In the most recent session, however, 34 people received vital support.

All individuals in the Hawkesbury region are welcome to visit the Hawkesbury Community Support Hub and access the support they need.

The Hawkesbury Community Support Hub warmly welcomes everyone to attend its monthly sessions, held on the first Wednesday of each month from 11:30am to 2:00pm AEDT.

The hub is designed as a safe space for those seeking assistance and support.
