Local Theatre Brings Beloved Aussie Tale Dot And The Kangaroo JR To Stage

Talented young artists present the beloved Aussie Tale Dot and the Kangaroo Jr stage play.

Hawkesbury residents are in for a real treat as Fantasia Showstoppers prepare to unveil the Australian premiere of Dot and the Kangaroo JR at Greater Western Sydney Performing Arts Centre in Plumpton today, Friday, April 19.

Based on the classic 1899 novel and featuring a talented cast of local performers, Dot and the Kangaroo JR follows the adventure of Dot, a spirited young girl who embarks on a journey through the Australian bush in search of her lost mother’s ribbon.

With enchanting music, vibrant choreography, and a heartwarming story that celebrates the beauty of our country’s landscapes and wildlife, this production promises to captivate audiences of all ages.

Directed by Tyson Moon, with choreography by Melanie Kerr and music direction by David Catterall, Dot and the Kangaroo JR showcases the immense talent and creativity of our local theatre community.

President of Fantasia Showstoppers, David Catterall said they were proud to bring this beloved Australian story to life on stage with a cast of incredible, young performers from here in the Hawkesbury and surrounds.

“With its rich characters, beautiful music, and stunning visuals, Dot and the Kangaroo JR is sure to be a highlight of the local arts scene,” Mr Catterall said.

Mayor of Hawkesbury, Sarah McMahon said Fantasia Showstoppers was a remarkable group who were wholeheartedly dedicated to providing opportunities for locals in the Arts space.

“The time and energy put into their various productions by the company and their volunteers, has resulted in extraordinary shows that the public have thoroughly enjoyed,” Ms McMahon said.

“It is also a wonderful showcase of the amazing talent that we have locally, who would not have the chance to perform without the efforts of Fantasia Stoppers.”
