Londonderry Rural Fire Brigade is currently looking for more volunteers to help protect the local community.

The brigade typically responds to more than 300 emergency calls each year; calls that encompass everything from fire alarm alerts and all types of fires right through to supporting the SES during floods, storm damage and vehicle collisions.

Recruits must be at least 16 years of age and live or work in the Londonderry, Agnes Banks and Hobartville areas.

Students, stay-at-home parents, people who work from home or are locally employed and have some capacity to attend incident calls from Monday to Friday.

Recruits will be trained and qualified to national standards free of charge and gain a range of useful skills, including MR truck licences, chainsaw training, first aid and breathing apparatus qualifications.

Intra and interstate travel to major incidents is also included for those recruits willing and able to attend.

Volunteering with Londonderry Rural Fire Brigade offers recruits the opportunity to be part of something special and build friendships that will last a lifetime.

Email the Captain of Londonderry Rural Fire Brigade at londonderrycaptain@hotmail.com before March 1 if you are interested in volunteering.
