Meet Your Neighbour – April Hanna

How long have you lived in or around the Hawkesbury and what do you like about living here?
My hubby and my 2 boys moved here just over 17 years ago and never looked back. Eventhough we live on the outskirts of Sydney, we are still close to everything – and we enjoy the view of the beautiful Blue Mountains from our back deck.

Where do you work and what do you enjoy most about your work?
I work full time for a manufacturing company in St Marys, but my pride and joy is my own business which has just seen a relaunch after a 4 year break. I love to be able to create and make beautiful gifts for everyone.

What do you do to unwind after work or on weekends?
I must say I don’t get much downtime – working full time, and running a business (handmade) keeps me very busy!! I also have a farm so work never ends!! When I do get a chance to get away I love to go either to the beach or go camping!!

What is on your bucket list?
To win Lotto of course!!! But would be happy to retire while I am still young(ish) and travel around Australia.

If you could have a super power what would it be and why?
I would love to be able to heal people. After becoming my husband’s carer 4 years ago (after a bad work accident) gave me a new perspective to the struggle of those who have been injured or confined to a wheel chair.

Tell us about your best holiday ever?
Anytime I manage to get a break from the farm is an awesome holiday!!

What makes your day?
Coming home to my farm and spending time with my dogs and animals- always puts a smile on my face regardless of what sort of day I have had.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?
Growing up In Newcastle I spent all my time at the beach – now I am a farmer! I have goats, sheep, chooks and I have recently added bee hives to our farm!!!
