Bilpin District Hall’s new awning will be completed within weeks.

Bilpin District Hall has played an important role in the Hawkesbury community in recent years, particularly those when the region suffered bushfires and floods.

Now it is getting a new awning, thanks to funding from the Commonwealth and NSW Governments’ Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund.

Good weather will see the new awning erected within the next couple of weeks.

Bilpin District Hall was the receival and dissemination point for over $800,000 worth of donated food and supplies from Woolworths when many residents were unable to make their way across the Hawkesbury River.

It has done duty during the floods, bushfires and the COVID-19 pandemic as well as being a staging area for RFS and SES.

The new awning will ensure that Bilpin District Hall can continue to be a place where emergency crews and volunteers can help during natural disasters in all types of weather.
