The Windsor District Baptist Church Emergency Relief Incorporated has received brand new furniture for people who lost items due to flood waters entering their homes.

Manager Allen Bouveng said the 12 pieces of furniture donated by Domayne could help numerous people who had lost everything during the floods.

“We’ve also received tarpaulins and funds from Big W to purchase other items such as toasters, kettles, steamers and small microwaves,” he said.

“The furniture donations were part of the Good 360 program. You have to be a charity to get stuff.”

To help make this offering help as many people as possible, a one-of-each item only rule has been put in place.

Mr Bouveng said that there was still a lot of cleanup required around the district, a lot of repairs needed.

While the church has been instrumental in helping throughout the floods, Mr Bouveng said that their organisation helps a number of people year round.

“We do food parcels or food hampers for people that need a helping hand,” he said.

“We also do EPA, electricity or gas vouchers.”

The number of people they see in a day can vary from day to day.

If you require assistance with furniture, contact the office on 4572 6952 from Tuesday to Friday between 10 am and 2 pm to arrange an interview at the church or at your home.
