The community comes out for the opening of the new Upper Colo Bridge on Monday, July 3.

The Colo community gathered at the opening of the new Upper Colo Bridge on Monday morning, July 3, including members who were present at the construction of the original bridge in 1936.

The new concrete bridge replaced the timber old timber structure that was lost during the floods of March 2021.

The construction of the new bridge was interrupted by another round of floods in 2022.

Slightly higher than its predecessor, the new, stronger structure will have a longer life.

Timbers from the original bridge have been incorporated into the surrounds of the structure to reflect its history.

It has taken a while to happen, but the new infrastructure is a welcome addition to the area.

Hawkesbury Mayor and councillors were present at the official opening, as was Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman.
