Nina’s Preloved Books is all about connecting people.

Yep, she has done it again.

South Windsor’s unofficial community engagement officer has created yet another avenue for people to connect.

Nina’s Preloved Books is already proving to be a great place to hang out.

South Windsor resident, Ann Brita Nilsson said Nina was a community catalyst.

“We wanted to create a space where the community could gather and learn,” Ms Nillson said.

“It’s a social store.

“It’s not a library - people don’t have to be quiet.

“The atmosphere we’re going for is interactive.”

Ms Nilsson said they were creating a community hub, offering different activities throughout the week for people available at certain times. “We’re very excited,” she said.

“The activities will evolve with who is available.

“The community is going to help shape us.”

Today, Friday, October 7 Nina’s Preloved Books will host a rock painting activity for those kids on school holidays.

Local musician, Bruce Howland plays music in the store.

“I’ve been playing next to Nina’s shop, just busking, for a while,” Mr Howland said.

“I just play the harmonica and sometimes the ukelele; just light music.

“The kids enjoy watching the harmonica and sometimes I also play the xylophone.

“It’s an interesting music experience for them.”

Mr Howland has experienced a connection himself thanks to Nina’s Preloved Books.

The first day I played at the bookshop, I met a man from the Pioneer Village in Wilberforce and now I’m doing volunteer work at the Village,” Mr Howland said.

“You get to meet people.

“If I hadn’t played at the bookshop I never would have met that man from Wilberforce.

“She does a brilliant job of bringing people together.”

The community is getting behind the store as well.

A local man brought cans of coke and packets of lollies as a donation for the kids that visit the book store.

Hawkesbury Helping Hands donated large quantities of coffee, tea, sugar, so they are offerent free cuppas to those people popping in for a browse and chat.
