Opportunity for emerging artists of the Hawkesbury

Create NSW and Artspace 2021 NSW are seeking emerging local artists to apple for the 25th annual Visual Arts Fellowship program. The NSW government will be selecting one finalist to access a grand total of $30,000 to contribute towards the artists professional development.

Up to eight artists will be selected to participate in the program, with Artspace assisting with their ability to access curatorial support and mentorship in the development of the $5 million NSW government supported redevelopment of the Gunnery building.

Minister for the Arts Don Harwin, who will be taking applications for the program, has expressed how the opportunity would be a career defining milestone for emerging artists within NSW, and how the program is entering its 25th year of providing a platform aimed at generating interest and attracting emerging talent in the NSW visual arts community.

The Hawkesbury has proven to be home to a number of talented residents within the community. Interested in trying out new visual arts inspired or creative pursuit? The Hawkesbury Remakery offers classes for members to join a co-making space where you can learn the processes and view demonstrations of many art based classes and workshops. If you wish to simply admire the art itself, pop into the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery in Windsor, or visit the Purple Noon Art Gallery, located a short drive from North Richmond into the hills of Freemans Reach.

If you know of any of many talented artists within the Hawkesbury, encourage them to apply to the Visual Arts Fellowship program. Applications for the Fellowship program are open from Friday the 26th of February until 5pm Wednesday the 24th of March 2021, and application forms are accessible via the Create NSW website.
