Whose a “Happy little vegemite”?

I am a huge vegemite fan and feel it must surely be unAustralian to not be.

I’ve sat with my niece watching foreigners try our Aussie spread and screwing up their faces and wondering what is wrong with these people? Anyway, I digress.

Happy birthday, Vegemite.

Vegemite is packed full of Vitamin B and nutrients, more so than any other concentrated spread.

Vegemite is Australian owned and made. (Owned by Bega Cheese and made in Melbourne.)

Vegemite is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. It is also halal and kosher.

Twenty Two jars of vegemite are sold on Australia Day every year.

Tennis champion, Ash Barty is a proud vegemite lover.

The vegemite jingle first appeared on radio in 1954, followed by television in 1956 and later, after a bit of tweaking, was played periodically until about 2010.

It goes like this:

We're happy little Vegemites
As bright as bright can be.
We all enjoy our Vegemite
For breakfast, lunch, and tea.
Our mummies say we're growing stronger
Every single week,
Because we love our Vegemite
We all adore our Vegemite
It puts a rose in every cheek.

If you haven’t yet had your vegemite this week, consider a birthday bite today.
